this weekend went very well. miss ava grace slept in a crib every night. HUGE DEAL!!! we’re thrilled. who knew it would be such a challenge to have a baby sleep in their own bed?! we haven’t been letting her sleep with us in bed. she’s been sleeping in her swing. sad, i know. in our defense, it is the only way we could get her to sleep…no joke. so, we’re working on it. dada is doing a great job with her. && she slept through the night last night too. much better than last week. she had me so worried.

that annoying little tooth still hasn’t come in. i wonder when it will…its really getting to me.

on the wedding front – i got an email today from the lady who is doing a makeover session for my bridesmaids && me. she sent me the directions to her house. (yay!) && a few questions for my custom make over…which were as follows:

eye color: Green (that’s an easy one.)

hair color: Brown (also an easy one.)

skin tone: ivory, i think?

face shape: uh-oh…not sure. i put oval but i let her know i wasn’t 100% sure about it.

eye shape: wtf? i put standard bc i had NO idea what she was talking about.

am i the only idiot in the world who didn’t know that matters?

am i the only idiot in the world who doesn’t know her eye shape?

wow. maybe i’m cosmetically challenged…

that’s probably it.

now that i got that settled.

i can continue with my normal life.

yep, that’s who my 4 month old has a crush on. this mickey mouse clubhouse show that comes on disney @7…wow. i wish we had it on 24-7. she giggles && coos. there’s a song at the end of the show && they all dance. she loves it so much that her dada && i have learned the words to help calm her down.

“hot dog hot dog hot-diggity-dog” – who knew?

watching her enjoy her show makes my day. && allows me to relax a little.

where can i find this show on dvd?!

in other news…there is a man who comes into my office everyday. i don’t know this man. he only comes to take candy, any office supplies he can find, && call me “valarie” (which is the name of another girl in the office). he swears he played football with my boss (coincidentally my boss has no idea who he is.) he seemed pretty harmless until one day. he told me that he would like for my boss to call him && he gave me about 10 different phone numbers (seriously!). he then proceeded to tell me that they were for his mental health counselor…i’m concerned.

but to brighten my day, we got ava’s 3 month pictures in yesterday. they’re precious! doug && lisa letson at letson portraits took them && they are wonderful. i’ll post a couple soon.

this might be a little interesting to well, nobody. as a new mom, there is one thing i get very excited about that i never thought possible. it makes my world a better place && it makes everyone in my family much easier to live with…its true! its like the clouds roll right on by when this is in our lives. you may think i’m crazy when i tell you what this new wonder-object is but bear with me…you must let me explain myself before jumping to conclusions. what do i speak of? that’s simple…its poop. yes, i said it…poop.

have you ever lived with a constipated 4 month old? not pleasant. now don’t get me wrong, i hate the smell && the mess just as much as the next girl. the fact of the matter is… when a baby goes #2 they are much happier && it makes your living environment a much more tolerable place to be. its amazing how changing one dirty diaper can make you go from being ready to rip every strand of your hair out one at a time to being relieved because your baby is now smiling && giggling. its amazing how something i have always found to be so appauling is now something i hope for && look forward to. (example: a couple of weekends ago cody && i left a fussy ava with her paw && gigi while we went out with some friends. we got a call around 10 that ava had pooped…we were so thrilled that we high-fived each other. && for the record… yes, everyone thought we were insane.)

am i the only person in the world who feels this way?

my beautiful ava grace.

i wanted to start today’s post with a picture of the beautiful little girl who makes my world go ’round. i talk about her constantly but have yet to put pictures up. what a terrible mom i must be. my info for mommys will be short today.

check it.

all new moms…&& probably other moms will agree with me. Strange, nosy peoplepolite, concerned people who you have yet to meet until now tend to go out of their way to touch your child && stick their dragon breath in your child’s face. then they go on to tell you everything they think you’re doing wrong with your child. (i.e. too fat/skinny, short/tall, shouldn’t be sitting up like that, etc.) they also stick their noses in your basket && let you know that your child is too old/young to be eating/drinking whatever is in it. (i had alot of trouble with people making comments about cokes && stuff while i was pregnant…i’ve learned more of how to make the “i don’t care what you have to say && look but don’t touch my child” face…&& yes, sometimes it is absolutely necessary!) to be honest, during labor && delivery, i think every new mom gets an “i’m an idiot” tattoo with their IV only visible to others.

on the wedding front – we have 17 days left (around 2 1/2 weeks) && the most important thing i’ve learned in this time is…you are never going to please everyone…its just not possible…don’t bother trying. i am getting excited about the wedding though. i think it will turn out great because we have had so many people working so hard for countless hours already i’m anxious to see what the future holds.

as promised, i shall now blog about the craziness that is motherhood while working full-time && trying to plan a wedding. i assure you, its alot. i will give you a glimpse today…

mommyhood…what do i miss the most about my life before miss ava?

isn’t the answer to this question obvious? SLEEP!!! who knew that a small person who weighs less than 20lbs && is less than 2 feet tall could make one so sleep deprived. our sleepy little apt. when from quiet days with afternoon naps to being able to hear a screaming baby before you walk through the door, nap? what’s that?, && even our puppy has bags underneath her eyes. it amazes me at how possible it is for a small human to function on so little sleep. so we are very grateful for grandparents, esp. on those nights when they just can’t wait to get ava in their houses for the night && slam the door in our faces politely say good-bye to us. hahaha. && on these sacred baby-free nights we always ask ourselves, “what should we do tonight?”. the unanimous decision is always “SLEEEEP!”. now, please don’t think i’ve always slept my life away. that just isn’t so. in college, i could stay up with the best of them. i was a bonafied night owl. now, aching for sleep, i wish i had stayed home those nights && put a few hours away for a rainy day night. please don’t get me wrong…i love her to the moon && the depths of the sea. i just miss my old dear friend, sleep.

being a bride-to-be – luckily, i have alot of help in this department. idk if i could make it come together without that, esp. since we are planning it in 7 weeks. we have a lot of the planning done && a little more to go. i’m sure we’ll be ready by the date && i’m looking forward to it.

alot has happened since my last post. i’ve been very over whelmed. i know have a little one, Ava Grace. she is now 3 1/2 months old…hard to believe. they really grow up too fast. i’ve started back to work && miss her every moment. cody has really stepped up && taken alot of the weight. he stays with her while i work during the week. we also have a HUGE support group. our family && friends are wonderful. on top of having a newborn, we are also in the midst of planning a wedding. we’ve been planning for about 4 weeks. we have 3 weeks to go. its pretty quick but really coming together. we’ve had alot of help with it too. i’ll blog more about wedding details later.

there are so many things about being a mom that nobody could even begin to prepare me for. i’ll tell you about them later too…deeply in depth. stay tuned.

do you have any advice for this crazy new mom/bride-to-be?

well, its been a while, hasn’t it? for that, i apologize. sometimes time just slips through our fingers when we are preoccupied with something else. in my case, its a big something else. its preparing for the arrival of a bouncing baby girl, our first. ((idk if she will really bounce, but i don’t plan on finding out either)) when i think of pregnancy && having a child…it scares me to death…not gonna lie. i believe the worst part is already behind me ((at least until she is a teenager)) i’m not actually scared of having a baby, i’m scared of raising a baby, i guess. every decision i make from now on is going to effect her more than i will be able to grasp.

if i couldn’t handle this, i don’t think God would have blessed us with her. he always knows what he’s doing whether we think he does, or not. we may not always like what he is doing or agree with it but it always seems to come out for the best. if you had sat me down this time last year && told me that i would be 8 months pregnant now, i would have laughed & said “umm…no, i don’t think i will ever have kids.” now i am about to be given the best gift of all, the gift of life. this small, innocent, perfect life is going to need me more than anyone ever has or ever will…to take care of her constantly, prepare her for the world the best i can && to protect her from this horrible world in every way possible.

its scary, but at the same time…i’m up for the challange. God made this little girl especially for me && i’m not about to let her down. she may not always like all of the decisions i make, but they will always be made with her best interest at heart.

40. i have dreamed only of thanksgiving dinner for the past week…that is the truth.

39. i find myself worrying && being upset frequently but there usually isn’t a reason for it.

37. i feel like i have to know what time it is…constantly, but i never wear a watch. weird, huh?

36. i would rather eat cereal at night rather than in the morning…i have no idea why…i guess i think it tastes better that way.

50. i spend alot of my time sitting around && wondering what i will write a blog on next…i never actually come up with anything good. :/

49. i’ve been listening to christmas music for the last week now && its fabulous…although there are still 6 weeks until christmas. ((let’s take a survey…who thinks i will be sick of it by the time christmas gets here?))

48. sonic cherry cokes && hot fudge && caramel sundaes are proof that God loves us && wants us to be happy…pbi.

47. i have gained 8 lbs in the last month…no lie.

46. since halloween, i’ve done almost nothing but think of all the christmas traditions i want ava grace to experience…some old/some new. it makes me happy that she is going to be born into such a HUGE family who will && already does love her more that i could have ever hoped for… ((i’m really excited bc cody && i want to have a separate christmas tree [hopefully live, but we all know i don't have a green thumb] that ava can string popcorn && paper chains on && hang her hand made ornaments from school && arts && crafts we do at home…)) i think it will all be really special for her.

45. ava grace is going to have a cousin named noah who will only be 11 months older than her…i know they will be the best of buddies, despite the fact that noah is a boy && ava is a girl.

44. cody && i swear our puppy is a vampire…so we have changed her name from sugar to alice… ((all of you twilight fans will know who i’m talking about)) but she’s still fabulous.

43. i wish i had more free time to just visit with friends && family…i feel like i’m missing out on so so much.

42. sugar alice, ava grace, && i are very lucky to have cody. he loves us no matter how much we mess up. he loves the pup even when she has an accident && loves me even when i’m cranky && want fountain coke or candy at 3 am && he already loves ava more than i thought it was possible to love another human being && he hasn’t even met her yet. she is lucky to have his as her daddy.

41. i am currently taking suggestions on what kind of blogs i should write when the 100 things about me segment is over…please feel free to suggest!

*sorry i’ve been slacking a little lately, no idea how busy i’ve been. i will do better now, promise!

60. i always made fun of my mother for wearing festive holiday sweaters &7 now i’m debating on buying my first one…wow.

59. i’m a firm believer that your mood toward other people strongly effects the mood of those around you…

58. i also believe that you should treat people with the respect && dignity that you want them to treat you with…you don’t want people being ugly to you…so why be ugly to them?

57. above almost all other traits, i loathe ignorance… seriously people, be informed before you open your mouth…it makes you sound more dumb than the person you are trying to argue with…sorry, its true.

56. procrastination…yes, we all suffer from it in one form or another…but don’t wait until the last minute to ask me something or expect something out of me && then think that i will be at your every beck && call. its not going to happen. pbi.

55. inspiration…i love being inspired more than almost anything else…inspired by poems, songs, quotes, kind words, etc.

54. i clip coupons every sunday morning…religiously. only to realize that i left them at home when i go to the grocery store or walmart.

53. i contradict myself in almost every way, but i’m completly okay with that && i can usually make others okay with it as well. ((power of persuation, i guess. ))

52. i’m hoping that there will be one really, really good snow this year. its been so long since i’ve seen a real snow, i think i’d just about pay to have it. ((if its going to be cold, might as well have snow too, right?))

51. i love taking pictures && looking at pictures of other people…but i absolutely dislike having my picture taken. i’m the least photogenic person i know. its slightly depressing…
